SCPC FDM
With Single Channel Per Carrier (SCPC) Frame Division Multiplexed (FDM) satellite access technology each VSAT terminal transmits multiple carriers at different frequencies - one carrier for each VSAT terminal that needs to be communicated with. Each VSAT then receives its communications on its own dedicated carrier.  This technology is typically adopted for broadcast and full duplex audio/video communications. It has the advantage of not requiring a central hub and easily expandable as each VSAT is a standalone system not requiring any central newtork control. The multiple carriers though means that it is satellite bandwidth hungry, and is therefore not suitable for large networks.
MCPC FRAME RELAY
Each VSAT in Multiple Carrier Per Channel (MCPC)  statellite  access technology transmits a single permanent carrier on the satellite  continuously. This is ideal for small networks. With Single Channel Per Carrier
TDMA / DAMA
Each VSAT in Time Division Multiple Acccess (TDMA) satellite access technology is dynamically assigned time slots from the network bandwidth on the satellite. This is ideal for larger networks with "bursty" traffic, reducing satellite bandwidth cost by sharing bandwidth. It does though require a larger initial investment in network control software. It is not generally suitable for continuous traffic as it would result in poor bandwidth efficiency.
